Gua Sha

Gua Sha involves scraping the skin with a special tool.  Sounds weird?  It’s actually really nice!

The technique is used by Sharon, our acupuncturist, to increase blood flow to the area being stroked.  The technique comes from Japan and is normally used with massage oil.

After the area is stroked the skin can look bruised, but the tension is usually released immediately and the marks disappear after a couple of days.

Gua Sha is especially beneficial when used alongside acupuncture.
