The rotator cuff is made of 4 muscles. These muscles are responsible for stabilising and moving the shoulder joint, so are very important. Damage to the rotator cuff can happen in many ways, but is usually wear and tear or a trauma.
Research shows that many of us have rotator cuff tears with no symptoms, but a bad tear will be painful and prevent you from being able to move your arm properly. Since surgery is a possible option for treatment it’s important to find out how bad the damage is if there’s a suspected tear.
