Are you suffering Arthritic Pain?
If joint stiffness or chronic pain affects your daily life, our tailored osteoarthritis treatment in Higham Ferrers can help you move more freely again.
Sometimes, either due to age or previous injuries, the joints in your body can suffer from wear and tear. This can cause a variety of pains that vary from stiffness to sharp pains and aches.
The wear and tear is sometimes called arthrosis or osteoarthrosis, or degenerative joint disease. In the spine the degenerative process is called spondylosis.
The process of osteoarthritis starts as the cartilage on the ends of the bones becomes rough and thin. The bone beneath the cartilage thickens, sometimes making little bony spurs called osteophytes.

It’s these osteophytes that can make a joint feel large. You might also get thickening in the fluids of the joint, causing a joint to swell. This will also make the joint feel stiffer
It’s important to understand that we now know that imaging (x-rays, MRIs etc) don’t always tell the whole story: some people have a lot of degeneration, but very little pain, so do not panic if your x-ray report says you’ve got osteoarthritis – it might not be causing your pain. Really, it’s true, and the news should help you feel more positive about the x-ray findings.
Whether the pain is being caused by strains to the area or by the osteoarthritis, you’ll be surprised just how much our treatment can reduce your pain and help maintain your mobility.
Georgina says:
“You don’t have to be old to have arthritis, some people get it after injuries, even when they’re young!”
