Sciatica is often so mild it can be ignored..

At Ashgrove Clinic in Northampshire, we specialize in sciatica treatment to help you regain mobility and reduce pain.

Sciatica means pain along the course of the sciatic nerve. The pain may hit suddenly like a lightening bolt, or may be like an excruciating ache in your legs – either way sciatica is a painful experience that’s always down the back or slightly to the outside of the leg.

Unfortunately the term sciatica does not tell you what is causing that pain.

Sciatica is a general term describing pain from irritation or compression of the sciatic nerve. So it’s more of a description of where the pain is, not a diagnosis. Imagine saying you had foot pain – this piece of information wouldn’t explain whether you’d just stubbed your toe, or you’d just had your foot run over. It’s the same with sciatica.

This means that doing exercises recommended by someone else who has sciatica (friends or online) can make it worse, so do be careful. You have to have a diagnosis of the cause.

We uncover the underlying cause and work out, with your input, the best course of action.

Sometimes we recommend hands-on treatment and exercises, but if the pain is severe we might recommend some time on the IDD decompression machine.

Either way, we aim to get you back to your normal life again, so don’t panic about the pain – we’re here to help.

Georgina says:

“Many things can cause sciatica, we know how to differentiate between them, we know the medical tests, and we know the questions to ask so that we can make a diagnosis and treat the right area.”

What our  CLIENTS SAY:

IDD really works! After 6 months in agony, taking 8 co-codamol a day, having had a spinal injection that didn’t work and barely being able to stand/walk, I was completely stuck.

Rachel and her team were just amazing, guiding me and reassuring me to trust the process. It took a while but I am now pain free and able to do normal daily activities liking getting dressed unaided. I can now pick up my newborn baby which felt impossible before, everyone should try IDD.

What our  CLIENTS SAY:

I attended the clinic after two years of back pain. I’d tried everything and was just desperately throwing money at the problem. I decided to have one last try, before I considered surgery. I signed up for IDD therapy, 24 sessions plus rehab. It was slow to take effect to begin with, but once coupled with the rehab, I noticed a dramatic improvement. Now I can look forward to getting on with life again, pain free. It’s a huge commitment, but I’d recommend it to anyone in my position. The staff are very professional and friendly, which makes the hours go a lot quicker (it’s a lot of lying down).
