If shoulder pain is affecting your sleep, posture, or daily movement, our expert shoulder pain treatment near Higham Ferrers and Rushden can help restore comfort and function.
Shoulders are one of our specialties. With several of our therapists qualified in the Niel-Asher Technique, and many of us qualified to use K-Laser for injuries, we’re well prepared for shoulder injuries of all types.
The shoulder is one of the most mobile joints in the human body, allowing for an exceptional range of movement. However, this mobility makes it particularly vulnerable to injury. Whether from sports, daily activities, or age-related degeneration, shoulder problems can affect people of all ages and backgrounds. Pain, stiffness, weakness, and loss of movement are common symptoms that can significantly impact quality of life and limit work or leisure activities. We are experienced in diagnosing and treating a wide range of shoulder issues with hands-on care, KLASER and personal rehabilitation strategies.

Frozen Shoulder (Adhesive Capsulitis)
This condition involves stiffness and pain due to inflammation and thickening of the shoulder joint capsule. It’s still not very well understood. It typically develops gradually and can last for months or even years if untreated.
A number of our team have undertaken specialist training for frozen shoulder. Please visit our Frozen Shoulder page for more information.
Rotator Cuff Injuries
The rotator cuff is a group of four muscles and tendons that stabilise the shoulder joint and support arm movement. Tears—whether from acute trauma or wear and tear—can cause pain, weakness, and restricted mobility. These injuries are particularly common in people over 40, athletes, and manual workers. Your treatment may include manual therapy to reduce tension, improve joint mechanics, and enhance circulation, alongside strengthening and stretching exercises to restore function and prevent recurrence.
Research shows that many of us have rotator cuff tears with no symptoms, so if you’ve had a tear diagnosed by a scan please don’t panic – it might well be simple to fix.

Impingement Syndrome
Impingement occurs when the tendons of the rotator cuff become compressed between the upper arm bone and the shoulder blade, often leading to pain when lifting the arm. It is frequently caused by poor posture, repetitive overhead activity, or muscle imbalance.
Our osteopaths can identify the underlying mechanical issues and provide manual therapy, KLaser, posture retraining, and movement correction to relieve pressure and restore pain-free function.
Shoulder Instability
This occurs when the shoulder joint becomes too loose, often due to previous dislocations or ligamentous laxity. It can lead to repeated subluxations, apprehension during certain movements, and persistent pain.
Our treatment focuses on improving joint control through targeted neuromuscular rehabilitation, muscle activation, and stability training, all designed to help the shoulder regain confidence and strength.

Jay Sheridan says:
“Shoulder pain makes many of your daily activites difficult. You’ll be surprised how quickly you can get back to them after treatment.”
