Are sports injuries holding you back?

If you’re looking for expert sports injury treatment in Rushden and Higham Ferrers, Ashgrove Clinic offers a full range of care. Get back to training fast, with your own team of sports injury and sports therapy specialists.

Sports therapy is a powerful ally whether you’ve got a strain, sprain, rupture or biomechanical imbalance.

Your training might be for a marathon, a team GB event or your first 5K.  We can get you back to training with a personalised programme looking at your biomechanics.

Your treatment will involve researched rehab protocols, hands-on therapy, electrotherapy and biomechanical assessments.  It’s important to get out of pain, but also to stay injury-free.

How sports therapy can help you:

  • Injury prevention through biomechanical assessments and exercise plans

  • Rehabilitation to restore strength, flexibility, and balance post-injury

  • Pain relief using hands-on techniques, laser and up-to-date rehab protocols

  • Improved mobility and posture, reducing strain on joints and muscles

  • Performance enhancement by addressing biomechanical inefficiencies

K Laser

This advanced technology uses specific wavelengths of light to stimulate tissue repair, reduce inflammation, and speed up healing—offering athletes a natural and effective way to recover faster and return to the activities you love.

K LASER is particularly useful for plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis and other running problems.  It also helps with ligament injuries, tendon problems and muscle tears.

Our K Laser page has more information, or book a free 20 minute consultation to find out more.

Junior Athletes

Sports therapy plays a vital role in helping young athletes stay injury-free as they grow and develop.  Competitive training and injuries can slow your child’s progress, so we stay up to date with research into movement patterns, injury prevention and training theories that are appropriate for the age and stage of development of our junior champions. The benefits include:

  • Teaching safe training habits early on
  • Helping manage growth-related aches and pains

  • Supporting recovery from sports injuries

  • Improving coordination, strength, and flexibility

  • Boosting confidence through expert guidance.

When to get treatment

Sports injuries are best seen quickly so you can return to your training programme.   If you leave an injury too long it becomes chronic and harder to fix.

If the injury is recent KLaser treatment will speed up your recovery, and the correct rehab will start the neuromuscular repair.

lf your injury is already chronic due to repetitive strains we’ll help you re-educate your body and correct the biomechanical faults that are aggravating the problem.

If you’re not sure whether we can help, book a free 20 minute consultation to talk to one of the sports specialists.

What our  CLIENTS SAY:

“I saw Jay with a calf niggle that had stopped me on a long training run. He was very thorough in taking medical history, and assessing what might be the root cause, and explaining this to me. His treatment of the issue was superb, and I left feeling better than I had in years. Additionally, the follow up exercises are excellent to keep me on track, and very comprehensive.

Highly recommend!”

Karen McKeever

“After experiencing a spectacular result on my knee, I was intrigued as to whether or not it may help with pain control from a torn rotor cuff injury. I am on my third treatment, the pain has decreased significantly and I have measurably more movement in my arm.

If you are struggling and have become resigned to your issues please have a chat with the experts for their advice and possible solutions. Thank you Jay and Tina for your amazing knowledge and support, in fact to all at Ashgrove Clinic .. what an awesome team you are!”

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens at the first appointment?

On your first visit to us a full  case history will be taken.  We need to know all aspects of your health. We will ask about your previous injuries, surgery, illnesses, and we will want to know if you’re taking any medication.

Unless we need further information about your condition we would normally treat you on your first appointment.

You will normally be asked to undress to your underwear so that we can treat you, but if you don’t feel comfortable undressing, just tell us – we can work around that.  We want you to enjoy your treatment, so tell us what we can do to make that happen.

Jay says:  If you’re a bit nervous about coming why not book a Free Consultation first?  Come and meet us – we won’t put any pressure on you to have treatment.

What should I wear?

It’s really helpful to us if we can see the area of the body that we are treating.   Normally we ask patients to undress to their underwear, but if you want to wear a T-shirt and shorts, or if you just don’t want to get undressed, that’s fine with us.

And you can always bring pair of shorts and T-shirt with you to change into.

Chloe says:  Ladies, please don’t wear a sports bra if you’re coming in for a massage – they cover your spine and we can’t see what’s going on!

How long are the appointments?

Your first massage appointment will be 45 minutes or an hour so that we have time to take the case history. Follow-up appointments vary in length depending on what you need, or whether you are training for an event.  Usually they are about 30 minutes long.

Can I bring somebody with me?

Of course you can!   We are very happy for you to have somebody in the treatment room with you.  We are quite used to families coming together or parents bringing kids with them.

Incidentally, if we are treating children under the age of 16 we insist that a parent or guardian accompany them.  We also ask that if you’re bringing any children under the age of 16 that they join you in the treatment room and are not left to sit in the waiting room unaccompanied by an adult.

Most patients really enjoy treatment, have a look at our testimonials if you need reassurance.

Can I claim on my insurance?

If you’re not sure whether you can claim or not, you must check with your insurance company.  Make sure you check the qualification of your therapist as we have osteopaths, physiotherapists, sports therapists and sports massage therapists in the clinic.   It’s possible that not all of them will be covered by your insurance.

You also need to check whether you need a GP referral before coming to us.  Most insurance companies don’t require a GP referral, but some do.

Once you’ve got the Ok from your insurance company we ask that you pay us after each appointment and then claim the money back from your insurance company yourself.
